Cristian Romero, Pape Matar Sarr, Bryan Gil, Emerson Royal, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence, Pedro Porro, Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Brennan Johnson – can you guess what they all have in common?
These were some of the major signings Tottenham Hotspur made back when Fabio Paratici led the recruitment at the North London club before his 30-month ban. It is quite telling that 9 of Spurs’ 11 starters against Manchester City last weekend in the 2-0 win belonged to that above mentioned list.
Even during his ban, Paratici has continued to work for Tottenham on a consultant basis. For example, Radu Dragusin wasn’t a player brought in under his tenure but the Italian sporting director knew the player well and played a massive role in him coming to the N17. It comes as no surprise that Ange Postecoglou claimed Paratici had “a great eye for a talent”.
Exclusive: Fabio Paratici to return to Spurs once the window shuts and lead recruitment.

Paratici's been a consultant all summer. Return called hypothetical or speculative for weeks, but Paratici to start an official club role in Sept/Oct.https://t.co/CAB8txtSQq
Now, as per reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, the familiar face is set to return to Tottenham in September/October after the conclusion of the summer transfer window. Fabio Paratici will return and continue to lead recruitment, as he looks to bolster Thomas Frank’s squad in the coming months.
The transfer business that Tottenham have done in recent seasons is quite incredible, looking back at it. They have brought in players who have set up the team to do well in the coming years. It is no coincidence that Thomas Frank is able to do so well with the existing squad he has in place.
Thus, it comes as no surprise that the North London club want to bring him back as soon as the window opens. In his absence, Johan Lange was appointed in charge of recruitment and it isn’t clear what the future holds for him once Paratici returns. Regardless, that is something that Spurs should be able to sort out.
When it comes to the sporting director business, Paratici is as good as they come. His ability to spot and identify talent and also negotiate to bring them in second to none. Tottenham would not be where they are at the moment if not for the Italian’s shrewd work and long may it continue!
Let’s wait and see when Paratici officially returns to Tottenham in his role as the head of recruitment.
