NFL Draft analyst Field Yates released his latest 2026 mock draft this week, and three standouts from the Big 12 cracked the first round.
Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano was the first Big 12 player off the board, projected to go No. 7 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. Fano has built a reputation as one of the premier linemen in the country, and his combination of size, footwork, and physicality makes him a cornerstone prospect in the eyes of NFL evaluators.
Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt landed just two picks later at No. 9 to the Los Angeles Rams. After emerging as one of the most dynamic signal-callers in the Big 12, Leavitt’s arm strength and mobility give him the traits that NFL teams covet in a modern quarterback. His placement in the top 10 reflects growing belief that he could develop into a franchise leader at the next level.
Leavitt’s teammate, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, was slotted at No. 20 to the Denver Broncos. Tyson has become one of the most explosive playmakers in the league, and pairing his speed with NFL-level route running makes him a natural fit as a first-round selection.
The trio’s inclusion underscores how quickly the Big 12 has adjusted to the expanded national spotlight. With Utah and Arizona State producing two of the three projected first-rounders, the conference’s newest members are already making their presence felt in both college football and NFL scouting circles.
While draft boards will shift dramatically over the next season, Yates’ early projections show that the Big 12 is developing top-tier talent capable of shaping the first round in 2026.
