FIRST LOOK: Renderings for Renovated Arrowhead Stadium

This, of course, would result from the Royals moving out of the Truman Sports Complex. On April 2, Jackson County Question 1 is on the ballot and represents the imposition and extension of a 0.375% sales tax for 40 years. That tax, if approved, would give funding to the Chiefs for their stadium improvements and maintenance and also assist in the construction of the Royals' downtown baseball park. Additionally, it'd factor into "refinancing debt obligations previously incurred to finance or refinance improvements to the Harry S Truman Sports Complex." 

Donovan projects that the earliest window to begin this proposed project wouldn't kick in until 2027. The FIFA World Cup will come to Kansas City in 2026. The Chiefs' ideal finish date would be 2030, although 2031 is a possibility. Hunt estimates that the renovations would cost $800 million, with his family contributing $300M. The Royals have promised $1B from their ownership group in their respective development. 

Donovan, describing the potential renovations as a "significant public-private partnership," emphasized the importance of improving the current Arrowhead experience.

"It's not only important that we do this given the age of the stadium, but it's important we do this right," Donovan said. "We do it to honor the legacy of Lamar Hunt, and also do it in the spirit that continues this treasure that we have in our town that is a worldwide phenomenon and an iconic stadium in sports."

• Pedestrian bridges
• Activation zone
• New parking orientation
• VIP access road
• New video boards
• Upgrades to TV and WiFi
• 360-degree upper concourse
• New concessions and restrooms
• Renovated suites
