Richfield's CJ Armstrong, Orono's Nolan Groves, Mankato East's Brogan Madson, Alexandria's Chase Thompson and Totino-Grace's Chace Watley are the top-five finalists for 2025 Minnesota Mr. Basketball, the committee announced on Monday.

You can catch four of the five finalists for the award, which is given to the most outstanding senior player in Minnesota, in this week's state tournament. The winner will be announced following the conclusion of the state tournament on Saturday.
Armstrong averaged 31.4 points per game (all stats provided by the MN Boys Basketball Hub) while leading Richfield to a 22-6 record this season. Richfield reached the Class 3A, Section 6 semifinals but fell to Orono, despite a team-high 34 points from Armstrong, who committed to play at Division-II Augustana last fall.
Groves averages 34.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game for Orono, which went 22-7 this season and will face DeLaSalle in a Class 3A state tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday. Groves scored a game-high 45 points in the semifinal win over Richfield and followed it up by scoring a game-high 34 points in the section final against Benilde-St. Margaret's. Groves is committed to play at Yale next year.
Madson averages 22.8 points, 5.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds for Mankato East, which nearly went unbeaten at 27-1 this season and will face Harding in a Class 3A state quarterfinal on Tuesday. Madson is committed to play at Division-II Sioux Falls.
Thompson averages 25.3 points, 13.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists for 26-3 Alexandria, which faces Byron in a Class 3A state quarterfinal on Tuesday. Thompson is the No. 2-ranked prospect in Minnesota's 2025 class, according to 247Sports, and the three-star prospect is committed to play at Clemson next season.
Watley averages 21.5 points for 22-5 Totino-Grace, which takes on Denfeld in a Class 3A state quarterfinal on Tuesday. Watley scored a game-high 23 points in their Class 3A, Section 5 title game victory over Monticello, and he's committed to Wofford.
