Five-Star Alabama Commit Sends Blunt Message About Flipping His Commitment

Five-star safety Jireh Edwards committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide in July after they stood out the most during his recruitment.

Edwards is one of the best recruits in the 2026 class, coming in as the fourth-best recruit in Maryland and the third-best safety recruit in the nation, per 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 33 overall recruit in the country, regardless of position.

Other programs have been trying to recruit Edwards since he committed to Alabama, but he recently told Rivals' Marcus Benjamin that he is committed to the program.

“I don’t believe in the transfer portal," Edwards told Benjamin.

It's a pretty good indication that Edwards has no interest in flipping to another school and wants to be with Alabama for his entire collegiate career.

Edwards is the fourth-highest rated recruit in Alabama's 2026 recruiting class and one of four five-star recruits in the boat. He'll likely be on campus at times during the 2025 season to watch his future team play.

Speaking of that, the Crimson Tide will get their 2025 campaign underway this Saturday against the ACC's Florida State Seminoles. The Seminoles only won two games last year and are expected to be better this year, so this should be a fun game to open the season.

This will be Kalen DeBoer's second season as head coach after leading the Tide to a 9-4 record last year.

Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
