Jalen Montonati, a Top‑25 small forward in the Class of 2026 out of Owasso (Okla.) High is scheduled to make his first official visit to Kansas State starting Monday, June 30.
Standing 6‑7 and weighing around 190 pounds, Montonati ranks No. 23 nationally on On3 and is widely viewed as one of the most coveted wings in the country.
Montonati originally received an offer from the Wildcats in March 2023, and since then, K-State has stayed in close contact, leaning heavily on head coach Jerome Tang’s family-centered culture as a recruiting pitch.
In his previous remarks, Montonati praised Tang’s culture and the program’s elite environment, crediting assistant coach Rodney Perry’s ties through Mokan Elite and his honest guidance as key selling points.
This official visit to Manhattan comes after Montonati has already logged multiple unofficial visits to Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma State, but the Wildcats will get the first official visit on the books.
His time on the Nike EYBL circuit has bolstered his profile, averaging 12.7 points, five rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, while gaining an additional seven pounds since the high school season ended.
Montonati has made it clear that team culture, player development, and NBA preparation are top priorities on his checklist. He has compared his game to that of shooters like Klay Thompson and versatile scorers like Jayson Tatum, focusing on becoming a three-level scorer who embodies the core values of energy and unity.
For Kansas State, landing Montonati would represent a major recruiting win in a class loaded with high-end wings across the Big 12. Tang’s squad needs a versatile guard‑forward who can stretch the floor, defend, and offer immediate athletic upside in a competitive conference.
The visit is pivotal as official visits are capped at five by NCAA rules, and signings for the early signing period are approaching. Monday’s trip will give both sides a chance to solidify mutual interest and potentially set the tone for Montonati’s final decision later this year.
