The Florida State Seminoles have been on a roll as of late when it comes to recruiting, but somehow, they have managed to lose out on some big-time recruits along the way. And that happens to every school, so it's not the end of the world.
But, in this case, the Noles are missing out on a freak athlete. No, seriously, we are talking about a guy who has size and skill like we've almost never seen. And to make matters worse, they lost him to a rival school.
The first time I heard about Heze Kent, I looked at his size before looking at the position he played, and I was so sure this guy was either a defensive lineman or an offensive lineman, or both.
Kent is a four-star athlete from Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Georgia, and he's neither of those. At 6'7" and 300 pounds, Kent’s size and athleticism make him a standout at any position in the trenches, if he wanted to. But he's not in the trenches; he's actually a skill player. Kent is a tight end, offensive tackle, and occasional ball carrier. But, for the team that just landed him, he could be a tight end, as that's what he was a ton in high school.
In 2024, he had 41 catches for 983 yards and eight touchdowns as a tight end, plus 211 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 32 carries. His performance helped Brunswick go 10-2.

Kent received 38 scholarship offers from top schools like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, and USC. On July 12, he committed to Florida, choosing the Gators over Texas, Miami, and Florida State.
Kent feels like he has the potential to be an amazing college football player. And, the Seminoles just missed out on him. But what's even worse is that he's going to the Noles' biggest rival.
