The Alabama Crimson Tide are undoubtedly one of the top teams when it comes to landing high school players, and so far, they have a 2026 recruiting class that features five commitments.
It's an impressive group, which On3 ranks No. 4 in the SEC and No. 9 in the nation, but it's not as though it doesn't also miss out on some special players or even have players back out.
An example is cornerback Dorian Barney, who originally committed to Alabama on May 19, 2024, but then changed his mind and decommitted on Nov. 10, 2024.
Now, after a significant amount of time receiving more offers and going on numerous visits, Barney announced on Tuesday that he would be making his commitment on July 5, between the Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Texas A&M Aggies and Penn State Nittany Lions.

It's no surprise that these well-respected programs are the last ones standing for his services, as On3 Industry Rankings place Barney as a four-star recruit, the No. 18 cornerback and the No. 196 player in the nation.
In his freshman season, he was impressive for Carrollton High School. He appeared in eight games, accumulating 32 tackles, six pass deflections, eight interceptions (two pick-sixes) and one humble recovery.
As Barney's commitment date approaches, he still has several official visits left. He'll be visiting Georgia Tech on May 30, Texas A&M on June 5 and Michigan on June 20. He visited Penn State on May 16.
