The New York Knicks have high expectations entering the 2025-26 season, especially with the Eastern Conference being weakened due to the injuries to Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton.
Of course, New York finished third in the East standings last season and made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals before being eliminated by the Indiana Pacers.
With their core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby returning and their notable additions of Jordan Clarkson, Guerschon Yabusele and head coach Mike Brown this offseason, the Knicks are one of the favorites to win the East this season.
Six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin also has high expectations for the Knicks this season as he recently predicted that they will represent the East in the NBA Finals.
“I think Denver (Nuggets) got better this summer,” Griffin said. “Denver took Oklahoma City (Thunder) to seven games. I think Denver gets to the Finals in the West. And I mean, I think it's New York or Cleveland (Cavaliers) in the East. I'll take New York. Maybe they learn from some mistakes, they make a few tweaks.”
Griffin chose the Knicks to beat out the Cavaliers in the East and advance to the NBA Finals where he has they facing off against the Nuggets.
The former NBA star also pointed out that the Knicks do need to learn from their mistakes during the Tom Thibodeau era and he expects them to make a few tweaks this season.
Of course, the Knicks have already made a few tweaks this offseason as they replaced Thibodeau with Brown and also upgraded their bench by signing both Clarkson and Yabusele.
New York also has another roster spot open that they are expected to use to sign another veteran player in free agency to upgrade their second unit which was a major issue for them last season.
Because of this, the Knicks should have a great shot at making a run to the NBA Finals next season as long as their core can stay healthy.
Despite this, they do have some tough competition in the East with the Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks, along with some other teams that could surprise some people this season.
Either way, the Knicks have high expectations entering the 2025-26 season as they try to end their championship drought and bring another title back to New York.
