Former Jets RB Le'Veon Bell Trolls Old Coach in Response to Bowling Story Resurfacing

One of the NFL's biggest stories heading into the 2019 offseason was where former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell would sign when he returned from his year-long holdout. The answer was the New York Jets.

Unfortunately, that turned out to be the wrong answer for both the player and organization.

Bell never returned to his dominant form from his Steelers days while the Jets as a whole struggled during his tenure with the team.

Still, his tenure wasn't without its share of headlines.

Those headlines included the time Bell missed a game with the Jets after bowling late the night before and into the early morning.

That story recently resurfaced on X and Bell responded to the story by brutally trolling the head coach he played under with the Jets, Adam Gase.

Bell was a force to be reckoned with during his time with the Steelers. In five his first five seasons he racked up 5336 rushing yards, 2660 receiving yards, and 42 total touchdowns. During that time he earned All-Pro honors three times.

Then he spent his sixth season holding out for a new contract after the Steeler franchise tagged him. When he returned from his holdout in 2019 he signed with the Jets.

It didn't work out.

Bell posted just 789 rushing yards on 3.2 yards per carry in his first year with the Jets. He played just two games for the Jets in his second season with the team before being released.

Gase was certainly at least somewhat to blame for Bell's rough time with the Jets.

Despite coming up as an offensive coach, Gase was never the head coach of a team that could be considered good on offense. None of the teams he was the head coach of ever finished higher than 17th in scoring.

The Jets finished 31st and 32nd in his two years in charge of the team.

The organization moved on from him shortly after they moved on from Le'Veon. They fired Gase at the end of the 2020 season after the Jets posted a record of 2-14.

He hasn't coached since.

Meanwhile, Bell has begun a boxing career since his time in the NFL came to an end. He has put together a 2-1 professional record and also defeated fellow former NFL running back Adrian Peterson by TKO in an exhibition match.
