Former LSU great and New York Giants star Malik Nabers appeared on “7PM in BROOKLYN” hosted by Carmelo Anthony. It was a very revealing conversation that covered a number of topics that weren’t always easy to talk about. The hosts and Malik spent a good portion of the show discussing Coach Prime and Shedeur Sanders' fall in the NFL draft. They also addressed the very difficult situation for Malik in having him speak about the untimely passing of former LSU teammate Kyren Lacy.
Malik revealed that it has been a struggle since losing Kyren. He said, “It’s been rough some days. Some days I feel good, [and on others] I might hear a song that me and him had sung in the car together on our rides to go and work out together. And it just brings it all back…I will never be able to do that again. I still haven’t wrapped my mind around it but I’m doing better some days…This is the first person I ever lost in my life that I was close to.“
Malik went on to talk about waking up to the tragic news. He said, “I didn’t know how to think, I didn’t know who to call, I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what to do. All the memories started playing back of just me and him. And I’m like nah, not him. This can’t be true.”
Malik also expressed strong feelings on the treatment of Shedeur Sanders and Deion Sanders at the NFL Draft. He said, “You don’t do that to a person…You can’t knock his talent…So for them to do that, I lost a little bit of respect for it.”
