Former Missouri Tigers point guard Phil Pressey has reportedly landed an exciting new role with the NBA's all-time winningest franchise.

Pressey is expected to be named the head coach of the Maine Celtics - the Boston Celtics NBA G League affiliate - according to a report from HoopsHype Senior NBA insider Michael Scotto.

Pressey played at Mizzou from 2010-'13, averaging 9.7 points and 5.9 assists per game during his three seasons in Columbia. Following his junior season, in which he averaged a career-best 11.9 points and 7.1 assists per game, Pressey opted to enter the NBA Draft.

Despite going undrafted in 2013, Pressey landed a deal with the Celtics following a strong showing in the Orlando Summer League. He averaged 3.2 points and 2.9 assists in 13.6 minutes per game in three NBA seasons before moving on to play professionally in Europe.

After stints in Spain, Turkey and Germany, Pressey rejoined the Celtics in 2023 as a player enhancement coach under Joe Mazzulla, where he has spent the last two seasons.

In his new role, Pressey will be replacing Tyler Lashbrook, who led the Maine Celtics to a 21-13 record and an appearance in the NBA G League's Eastern Conference Finals this season. The news of Pressey comes on the heels of another former Tigers star latching on to coach an NBA team.

DeMarre Carroll, who played for Mizzou from 2007-'09, has  reportedly been added as an assistant under new Phoenix Suns head coach Jordan Ott. Carroll not only played for Ott during his time with the Brooklyn Nets, but the two were assistant coaches together with the Los Angeles Lakers (2023-'24) and Cleveland Cavaliers (2024-'25).
