Notre Dame football was the perceived leader for 2026 Waukee (Iowa) High School tight end Evan Jacobson for some time. Once the Fighting Irish landed commitments from Ian Premer and Preston Fryzel, it became cloudy whether the program was still going to push for Jacobson. As it turns out, they didn’t.
Jacobson was a player that Notre Dame liked a lot, but they were comfortable with two tight end commits in the 2026 recruiting class. That leaves a really talented 6-7, 225-pound pass catcher on the market. With high demand out there, it was going to be interesting to see where Jacobson ended up.
It appears that we may have gotten our answer on Thursday. Rivals vice president of recruiting Steve Wiltfong put in an expert prediction for Jacobson to land with the Texas A&M Aggies.

If the Aggies do land Jacobson, it would be a massive grab for them.
Jacobson’s offer list has continued to expand over this offseason, and his offer list now sits well over 30 in total. Some of the more notable programs that have extended offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Miami, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida State, Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Michigan State, Louisville, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Boston College, Purdue, Stanford, Minnesota, Missouri, Baylor, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa State and Kansas among several others.
The talented athlete is considered to be the No. 179 overall player and No. 11 in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports. Jacobson is also ranked as the top player in the state of Iowa. It also isn’t overly surprising that he is an outstanding basketball player for Waukee High School, following in his father’s footsteps, who played basketball at Nebraska and Iowa State.
With a massive frame, Jacobson is a potentially dominant inline player on the college level. His blocking is already there, and as his body continues to fill out, he could be tremendous in that department. The bigger question is what type of receiver Jacobson becomes, but there are certainly tools to work with.
