The Oklahoma Sooners have a history of great linebackers. Brian Bosworth is one of the greatest college linebackers we have ever seen, and this last year, and the three years before that, we got to witness Danny Stutsman bloom into the player he is today.
Stutsman was drafted by the New Orleans Saints, a few picks apart from his former teammate, Billy Bowman, who was drafted to division rival Atlanta Falcons. Surely those two will be doing a jersey swap in 2025. As for Stutsman, though, he has the potential to have a significant role for the Saints in 2025, even as a rookie.
And, based on the little he has done in OTAs so far, it's very possible that he works his way up the depth chart, not as a starter, but as a key depth piece.
A good example of why you shouldn't overvalue camp stats: Tyler Shough's best throw today (IMO) was one of his three incompletions. He rolled out to his left and put it right on Cedrick Wilson up the sideline against tight coverage. Danny Stutsman got a hand in to break it up.

According to Jeff Nowak of WWL Radio in New Orleans, the Saints held OTAs on Thursday and Danny Stutsman had a load of work during practice, including one play where he had one of the best defensive plays on the day, breaking up a pass from rookie QB Tyler Shough.
Love this for Stutsman. Will it transition into a starting role for the rookie in year one? Probably not. With that being said, it’s notable when you’re the player who first steps into the role held by a perennial Pro Bowler when he misses a practice.
Stutsman got some good reps in with the top talent on the defensive roster, as well as against the first-team unit on offense. I expect him to play a major role on special teams this season. Don’t be shocked if he’s on the field for Brandon Staley’s defense in certain situations as well.
His hair-on-fire mentality will keep the Sooners product from getting buried on New Orleans’ depth chart at LB in the coming seasons. I would nearly guarantee that - as long as he stays healthy. - Adam Holt, A to Z Sports New Orleans Saints
The Sooners will continue to put great defensive players into the NFL as long as Brent Venables is the head coach. And for Stutsman, he has a real shot of eventually, at some point in his career, becoming a key piece for the Saints' defense.
