Former Tennessee Vols player set to make NFL debut after getting promoted from practice squad
George Walker IV-USA TODAY Sports

A former Tennessee Vols player is set to make his NFL debut after getting promoted from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad on Thursday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that former Vols tight end Princeton Fant was elevated from the Cowboys' practice squad ahead of Dallas' game on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks

Fant, who was signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft, will have a familiar face across the field when he makes his debut. As Schefter noted, Fant's cousin, Noah, plays for the Seahawks.

Fant, who is from Nashville, played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2022. That means he played under five head coaches (including interim head coaches) during his time with the Vols.

  • Butch Jones -- 2017
  • Brady Hoke -- 2017 (interim)
  • Jeremy Pruitt -- 2018-2020
  • Kevin Steele -- 2021 (interim -- never coached a game)
  • Josh Heupel -- 2021-2022

The Cowboys' game against the Seahawks kicks off at 8:15 PM ET on Thursday night. The game will air on Amazon Prime.
