The popular battle royale title, Fortnite, adds another exciting anime collaboration to the game. With a new set of items based around the popular series, One Punch Man, for a limited time in their shop. Featuring characters, emotes, and other exciting stuff for fans of the Japanese property.

What is Fortnite?

Fortnite is a widely played online multiplayer title where a ton of players get together on an island to be the last one standing. It can be played solo or with up to 3 other friends, with dozens of modes to choose from–with the standard mode allowing players to build structures for traversing or protecting oneself.

Throughout its run as well, the island changes and features a varied rotation of items and events for players to grab. With the game encouraging players to not just win the match but also to complete certain quests to earn points.

With these points, players can receive XP that can be spent on the season’s Battle Pass. Many of them come free for all players, with most encouraging them to pay for the Battle Pass to be able to earn every item. The Battle Pass encourages players to play several rounds of the game in order to earn such XP. It is highly recommended to only purchase the pass if you are a frequent player.

They can also spend real-world money or earn the in-game currency known as VBucks to earn shop-exclusive items as well. Which are cosmetics that can rotate in and out, most notably being able to return–while Battle Pass features largely exclusives. These cosmetics can range from player skins, emotes, backblings, as well as mode-specific cosmetics for Rocket Racing, Festival, and LEGO game modes.

As it is well-known, Fortnite collaborates with tons of other intellectual properties, arguably being one of the most notable aspects of the game.

What is One Punch Man?

One Punch Man is a Japanese series created by ONE, which started as a web comic, turned into a manga with brand new art, to then received an animated adaptation with multiple seasons to watch.

The story follows Saitama being an overpowered superhero who can defeat any enemy he crosses paths with a single punch. Making it hard for him to be challenged within the world he lives in. Though despite all his heroic actions in his city, the one thing that becomes difficult early on is being recognized for his efforts–as heroes must become licensed in order to be officially viewed as heroes in this world.

He meets other heroes throughout, including Genos, a futuristic cyborg, who views Saitama as a mentor. As well as Tatsumaki, a wind user who has a youthful appearance despite her age, is referred to as a sassy lost child. Other key characters appear throughout, often taking a little precedence as they are challenged by the villains. While Saitama’s main concern throughout the day is getting groceries brought home and finding appeal in being ready for the next food deal.

What to expect in this collab?

As found out by content creator and dataminer, HYPEX, Fortnite is set to release content based on One Punch Man. While we do not know of much at this time–skins based on Saitama, Genos, and Tatsumaki are set to appear. Setting the stage with three of the primary characters featured throughout the series.

While it is unknown if we will see other characters, such as Fubuki or Mumen Rider, we are set to see this wave of characters arrive later this August. With other items referencing the series being added as well, namely backblings and emotes.

It is also unknown if these characters will be usable in any of the LEGO modes within the game, as LEGO has yet to make an official collaboration themselves with the series–previously only working with Netflix’s One Piece in regards to Japanese animated properties.

With the planned date to be August 27th, 2025, players will be able to customize as their favorite One Punch Man character as they earn their Victory Royale(s) and try out all sorts of fun dance moves on these characters. Perhaps taking them for a spin in other key modes like Rocket Racing and Festival, or simply enjoying the idea of having more of their favorites in this massive crossover of a game.
