It appears as though a current member of Penn State’s Class of 2025 is considering all of his options before he’s 100% locked in with the Nittany Lions.
Nittany Sports Now has learned that 4-star running back Tiqwai Hayes traveled out to the West Coast for an official visit to the Stanford Cardinal.
The star running back from Aliquippa High School has been committed to Penn State since September 25, 2023. Hayes was the third player to commit to Penn State’s Class of 2025.
This is no doubt surprising news but credit Stanford tight end coach Nate Byham for the work he’s done in recruiting Western Pennsylvania. Byham, who’s from Franklin, Pennsylvania and played tight end at Pitt, spent a few days recruiting in Western Pennsylvania last month.
Hayes is currently one of three running backs in Penn State’s Class of 2025 with Kiandrea Barker (Beebe, Arkansas) and Alvin Henderson (Elba, Alabama). Earlier this week, Barker announced on Twitter that he’s completely shut down his recruitment and was 100% committed to Penn State. This comes after a number of schools, including hometown Arkansas, were working to get him to make an official visit. Henderson is still being pursued by a number of SEC programs.
The question now is what sort of impact will this visit to Stanford have on Hayes?
The 4-star back is currently ranked as one of the Top 10 overall players in Pennsylvania and one of the Top 20 running backs in the Class of 2025.
