Manchester United head to Craven Cottage on Sunday, August 24, 2025 looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat, while Fulham will be looking to build on their hard-earned draw at Brighton. The match starts at 4:30 PM BST, 11:30 AM (ET) (8:30 AM PT)

The two teams know each other well from last season when United won the league meeting but Fulham knocked them out of the FA Cup. Both managers will still be bedding in new players and dealing with early injury problems so selection will be key.

Injuries & Team News

Fulham

  • Antonee Robinson: Out with a knee injury; expected return date is August 26, 2025.
  • Ryan Sessegnon: Doubtful due to unspecified illness; fitness to be assessed before the match.

That means Calvin Bassey will deputise on the left side of defence. Club record signing Emile Smith Rowe will play in an advanced role alongside Alex Iwobi and Harry Wilson behind the striker.

Manchester United

  • Lisandro Martínez: Out with a knee injury; expected return after the September international break.
  • Noussair Mazraoui: Out with a thigh injury; expected return on August 30, 2025.
  • Andre Onana: Doubtful due to unspecified reasons; fitness to be assessed before the match

Ruben Amorim has his own selection dilemmas at United. Goalkeeper André Onana is in doubts so he may stick with Altay Bayındır after starting him against Arsenal.

Summer signings Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško give United’s attack a new look and Patrick Dorgu adds depth at wing-back.

Lineups Fulham Vs Manchester United

Fulham: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Cuenca, Bassey; Berge, Lukić; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz.

Fulham could stick to 4–2–3–1 with Smith Rowe playing inside to link midfield and attack. Rodrigo Muniz fresh from an equaliser against Brighton will be the focal point in the box.

Manchester United: Onana (or Bayındır); Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw/Lindelöf; Amad, Mainoo, Mount, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Šeško.

United should play 3–4–2–1 with pressing triggers through the new front three. The wing backs are key — Amad Diallo and Dorgu will be asked to stretch Fulham’s shape. Kobbie Mainoo’s ability to control transitions will be crucial if United are to dominate the tempo.

Head-to-Head Record

United have dominated this fixture historically winning 58 of 94 competitive meetings, and have not won. Fulham’s last league win was over a decade ago but they showed they can trouble United in the penalty shootout in the FA Cup last season.

In January United won 1–0 at Craven Cottage in the league but Fulham responded with a 1–1 draw in the Cup before winning.

Prediction

Manchester United are slight betting favorites against Fulham, with bookmakers giving them around a 46% chance of winning, and Fulham about 30%.

Even if United suffered a 1–0 defeat to Arsenal in their last game, they were promising with 22 chances on target. They also got a great track record at Craven Cottage, where they have won their last eight encounters away against Fulham.

Odds put United at 2.150, Fulham at 3.350 and the draw at 3.610. The odds imply a similarly thin margin of victory for United, as, if they win, it seems likely that a 2–1 victory is the most probable outcome in a match that is expected to be close.
