Well, that was certainly a waste of time for the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns to execute that trade in March.
The Kenny Pickett era in Cleveland didn't even last six months before he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. Cleveland got a 2026 fifth-round pick in the process.

Pickett spent last season with the Eagles as Jalen Hurts' backup as he finished with 291 passing and three total touchdowns to one interception, going 1-0 as the starter. Philly traded Pickett in the offseason to the Browns in exchange for quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
The trade didn't go as well for the Eagles either, as Thompson-Robinson was cut from the Eagles on Sunday. He finished the preseason, completing 10 of 16 passes for 73 yards and one interception. Thompson-Robinson did not play in the Eagles' preseason finale against the New York Jets, which sealed his fate.
A to what happened with that fifth-round pick the Eagles got from the Browns trade? Well, that was used in the Kansas City Chiefs trade to get the 31st overall pick for Philly to select linebacker Jihaad Campbell.
Technically, if a winner needs to be claimed, it might still be the Eagles by the slimmest of margins. It certainly doesn't feel like anyone won that trade, though.
The Eagles get the win because they were able to use the Browns' fifth-round pick to get Campbell who looked incredible during training camp and preseason. He got better and better as the weeks went on and now might be in contention to start at inside linebacker with Zack Baun in Week 1.
There was little hope for DTR as he was seen as a potential QB3 all along, with Tanner McKee being given the keys as the backup. Once the Eagles selected Kyle McCord, the proverbial writing was on the wall for Thompson-Robinson. Sure enough, Philly traded for Sam Howell over the weekend, with DTR and McCord getting cut from the team.
As for Pickett, the poor guy never stood a chance after the Browns selected two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. His injury at training camp didn't help matters either.
This was an absolute botched trade, but hey, the Eagles used their pick to get a potential star at linebacker so it may not be all that bad. Right?
