Although Roma are pessimistic about signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, Gian Piero Gasperini insists that the English winger ‘never said no’ to the Giallorossi.
Although several Italian media reported that Sancho had rejected an offer from Roma, Football Italia reiterated that the Manchester United outcast never formally rejected an offer from the Giallorossi.
Gasperini confirmed so last night after a 1-0 win against Bologna.
“Sancho never said no to Roma,” the Giallorossi boss told RAI via Corriere dello Sport.
This, however, doesn’t mean the ex-Chelsea loanee will move to the Stadio Olimpico this season.
The Giallorossi have an agreement with Manchester United but have been struggling to convince Sancho to accept a move to the capital.
Speaking to DAZN last night, Roma director Frederic Massara admitted that Sancho lacked the motivation to join the Giallorossi.
Roma welcomed Evan Ferguson and Leon Bailey on loan to strengthen their attack this summer, but the latter suffered an injury during his first training session at Trigoria and will remain out of action for a month.
