Georgia Gets Bad News on Highly Touted Playmaker

The Georgia Bulldogs have a strong tradition at running back in program history. But it doesn't sound like that tradition will continue with one coveted star running back from the 2026 recruiting class.

The Bulldogs are in the top four for five-star running back Savion Hiter this spring. On3's Chad Simmons reported Tuesday, though, that Georgia is fourth in the race for Hiter behind the Tennessee Volunteers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines.

"Savion Hiter is high on Tennessee," Simmons wrote. "Where do the Vols sit? They are in the Top four for sure, but the Vols seems to be on the higher side of that list.

"Georgia looks to be fourth with Michigan and Ohio State strong contenders too."

Hiter narrowed his recruiting search to four schools in late April. The running back will visit the Buckeyes first this weekend.

Hiter will be in Athens, Georgia during the weekend of June 8.

The Volunteers are expected to have the final visit for the five-star running back.

Standing at 5-foot-11.5 and 200 pounds, Hiter plays high school football for Louisa County in Mineral, Virginia. He is the No. 1 running back and No. 1 Virginia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Based on the same rankings, Hiter is also the No. 17 overall recruit.

The Bulldogs have yet to receive a verbal commitment from a running back in the 2026 recruiting class. Georgia's 2026 class is currently rated 11th based on the 247 Sports rankings.
