When Georgia Tech baseball takes on Georgia Southern, there’s a clear pattern: the Jackets don’t just win—they dominate. Tuesday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park was no different, as Tech (34-14) rolled to an 8-5 victory, completing a three-game season sweep for the third consecutive year.

Georgia Tech’s youth continues to impress, with freshmen Alex Hernandez and Will Baker each driving in three runs to lead the offensive charge. Hernandez crushed his 11th homer of the season—a mark that leads all GT freshmen and ties him for third among Power 4 rookies. Baker followed with a towering three-run shot in the fourth, his fifth of the year and fourth in the last month. Together, Tech’s freshman class has accounted for 28 home runs this season, showing the future is now on The Flats.

While the bats got the headlines, junior reliever Kayden Campbell quietly delivered his best outing of the season. In three scoreless innings of relief, Campbell struck out three, earned the win, and lowered his ERA to 2.45—second-best on the team among regulars. His clutch performance helped stabilize the game after two early Georgia Southern homers and set the stage for the Jackets’ five-run fourth inning.

Georgia Tech’s lineup showed off its depth yet again. Carson Kerce added his fourth homer of the season, Vahn Lackey notched his 22nd multi-hit game, and Caleb Daniel extended his on-base streak to 14 games. The Jackets also knocked two more doubles, bringing their total to a Power 4-best 127 on the season. That 2.65 doubles-per-game clip is on pace to break a 37-year-old program record.

With the postseason approaching and a 5-game win streak in hand, the Yellow Jackets are finding their rhythm at the perfect time. Tuesday’s win wasn’t just another tally in the victory column—it was a statement.
