Georgia Tech just got a whole lot faster.
Jeremy Winston, a dynamic athlete from Rome High School, gave his verbal commitment to the Yellow Jackets on Monday, becoming the first wide receiver in Tech’s 2026 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Winston is a two-sport standout known for his electric speed, elite leaping ability, and sharp route-running, attributes that make him a natural fit for Brent Key’s high-octane offensive blueprint.
Winston, rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals, chose Tech over 15 scholarship offers from schools including Virginia Tech, Indiana, Wake Forest, and Cincinnati. He made his decision public shortly after completing an official visit in Atlanta, one that clearly sealed the deal.
Winston exploded onto the radar last season at Rome, where he helped lead the Wolves to an 8-3 record and a second-round playoff appearance. Despite it being his first full season on varsity, he stood out as a true vertical threat, consistently winning 50/50 balls and creating separation with crisp routes. His film is loaded with examples of him high-pointing passes and making defenders miss in open space.
Off the field, Winston is also a high-level basketball prospect known for his explosive first step and finishing ability around the rim, a testament to his athletic ceiling.
With Winston and fellow Rome teammate Darnell Collins both pledging to Tech within minutes of each other, the Jackets now have seven total commits in the 2026 cycle, including two offensive playmakers. For a program focused on reclaiming its identity in the ACC, it’s a statement weekend on the recruiting trail.
Georgia Tech fans have reason to be excited. Winston brings a spark to the class and represents the kind of in-state talent Brent Key and his staff are working hard to keep home.
Now the real work begins: developing this talent into Saturday playmakers. But for now, the Jackets have landed one of the Peach State’s rising stars, and they’re just getting started.
