Georgia vs. Clemson kickoff time, TV network officially set
Joshua L. Jones-USA TODAY NETWORK

On Tuesday, ESPN announced the official kickoff date and time for the annual Aflac Kickoff Game featuring the Georgia Bulldogs vs. Clemson Tigers, and fans are not too happy about it.

The Week 1 season opener will kick off at noon ET on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Mercedes Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.

Fans can watch the matchup live on ABC.

On the same day, ABC will air the Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida Gators at 3:30 p.m. ET while the Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Texas A&M Aggies get the prime-time kick-off slot at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Noon is an odd start time for two of college football's top-ranked teams with Georgia slated at No. 1 in the 2024 CFB preseason rankings

“All eyes will be on Atlanta when two of college football’s biggest brands face off in a showdown that will certainly have College Football Playoff implications,” Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl CEO and president, said via Dawgs HQ. “Whoever wins this matchup will take the first major step toward the playoff and the possibility of making a return trip to Atlanta when we host our first-ever CFP Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day.”

The Bulldogs last took on the Tigers at the start of the 2021 season in Charlotte where Georgia, led by then-starting quarterback JT Daniels, won 10-3.

Georgia will enter this year's matchup fresh off a 13-1 record, while Clemon comes to the Peach State after going 9-4 last fall.

This game will mark the 66th meeting between the two schools dating back to 1897 with Georgia leading the series 43-18-4.
