After making the 2024 WNBA All-Star team as a rookie, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has faced ongoing scrutiny this season over her offensive inconsistency. Critics have pointed to her shooting percentages and struggles around the rim.
However, Reese responded emphatically against the New York Liberty, delivering 17 points on 61.5% shooting—going 8-of-13 from the field—along with 11 rebounds and three assists. That performance marked her best scoring night of the season to date.
After the game, veteran teammate Ariel Atkins stood up for Reese during the post-game press conference, addressing the non-basketball “nonsense” she deals with from the media.
Atkins concluded with a notable line about her teammate, stating of Reese, “Her crown is heavy.”
The clip—including Reese visibly moved—went viral on social media. In response, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo reposted the video on X with a six-word response.
“That’s a good teammate right there," he wrote with two emojis.

Despite the ongoing criticism she faces, Reese has continued to dominate headlines for her rebounding. She has already broken records, including becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 30 career double‑doubles, and she continues to be one of the league’s most prominent figures.
Her career accolades include a WNBA All-Star selection in 2024, leading the league in offensive rebounds that season, and being named BET Sportswoman of the Year in 2025. Even with room for improvement, Reese’s resilience and impact both on and off the court continue to affirm her status as a key player for the Sky and a rising star in the WNBA.
