The New York Giants selected Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which is the move that most expected them to make.
Now Carter has been reunited with his college teammate in New York.
Giants starting tight end Theo Johnson was also a Nittany Lion who the team drafted with the 107th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. In a recent interview following the draft, Carter spoke a bit about the friendly rivalry between him and his college teammate.
"We used to go at it at practice all the time and in the games," Carter said. "Us two going at it, we both dominated in the game. He's in New York now, I'm going to meet him there. We're going to be going at it in practice. It's going to be all love. It's going to be dope."
Now the two have been reunited in New York, and one can imagine that the two will be back to their rivalry now that they are both on the big stage.
Johnson was solid in the 12 games he played for the Giants in 2024, and he will be looking to become the team's tight end of the future. As for Carter, he could end up being one of the best edge rushers in the league as a rookie, as he has all of the tools to be a great player in this league.
There is no doubt that the two will go at it in practice, but the competition will make both of them better at the end of the day.
