In an interview with Kay Adams, the rookie running back explained why he chose a unique jersey number than many people did not see coming.

Skattebo revealed that he wanted number four, but it is retired by the Giants. With that, he detailed how his brother wore number 44 during his playing days as they grew up. Skattebo considers it a "family number" now. One of the fours is for him, and one is for his brother.
