Alan Shearer has expressed admiration for Arsenal’s impressive squad depth this season after the club strengthened their ranks with additional signings.
Mikel Arteta’s side already boasted some of the finest names in football, but further reinforcements have elevated the overall quality and balance of the team. At the Emirates there is growing confidence that they possess one of the strongest squads on the continent, with the clear ambition of turning that strength into silverware.
In past seasons Arsenal’s fortunes often suffered when key figures such as Bukayo Saka or Martin Odegaard were unavailable through injury. Their absence typically left the team vulnerable and created difficulties in maintaining consistency. That situation has changed significantly. At present, both players are out of action, yet there is no widespread suggestion that the side has been weakened. This marks a notable shift, highlighting the benefits of carefully building depth and resilience.
The Gunners have continued to achieve positive results in spite of those setbacks, and expectations remain high that they will sustain their momentum. Their ability to compete strongly across multiple competitions is now underpinned by the assurance that quality replacements can step in seamlessly. This improvement demonstrates the success of their recruitment strategy and the determination to compete at the highest level.
Former striker Alan Shearer noted his impression of the resources now available to Arteta. Speaking as cited by Mirror Football, Shearer stated:
“Yeah but then I was thinking, ‘Goodness me, look at the players that they’ve brought on.’ They brought Trossard on, I forgot about him.
“Then you’ve got Eze to come in, Martinelli. I mean, the numbers they’ve got are really incredible now, the squad that Arsenal have got. So they have to go on and they have to win something pretty big this season, but they’ve made a good start.”
His comments underline the reality that Arsenal’s bench strength now rivals some of the top clubs in Europe. It reinforces the view that success will be measured not simply by progress but by the securing of major honours.
The transformation in depth has been so effective that supporters can rightly feel proud of the club’s development and ambition. The challenge now is to translate potential into tangible achievements and prove that the foundation laid will indeed deliver trophies.
