The Green Bay Packers have shown a penchant for taking Georgia Bulldogs defenders over the last few years via the NFL draft. Since 2021, the Packers have selected five former Bulldogs defensive players, including Warren Brinson, who got taken off the board in the sixth round of the 2025 edition of the NFL draft by the Packers as the 198th overall pick.

Brinson is hoping to hit not just individual goals in the NFL but find team success as well. After all, he’s used to that, thanks to his stint with Georgia football under head coach Kirby Smart.

The 23-year-old Brinson played for five seasons with the Bulldogs in college and won a pair of College Football Playoff national titles. During his stint in Athens, he posted six sacks with 71 combined tackles and 14 tackles for loss in 59 games.

Brinson jokes about Green Bay Packers training camp

Green Bay Packers Rookie Reacts to NFL’s Softer Training Camps: 'Coach Smart Made It a Lot Harder' 2 Former Georgia defensive lineman Warren Brinson (97) runs a drill during UGA Footballs Pro Day in Athens, Ga., on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Representatives from all 32 NFL teams are on hand to watch former UGA football players in action.

The Packers had a lighter practice on Friday, lasting for just an hour and 40 minutes. That led Brinson to recall the practices he experienced back in Athens.

“Coach Smart made camp a lot harder than what it’s supposed to be,” Brinson jokingly said, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

But as Demovsky pointed out, Brinson knows that a push by the NFL Players Association in 2011 made teams dial down on practice sessions.

“Yeah that’s insane,” Brin said. “Shoutout out to the P.A.”

Another reason Green Bay’s practice was shorter on Friday was due to injuries and because of the scheduled Family Night on Saturday.
