The Green Bay Packers used the 124th overall pick on Texas Longhorns edge Barryn Sorrell. The Packers added more edge depth with a solid all-around player, but the real news of the selection was the fact that Sorrell waited in the green room for two full days without being selected before getting his moment. On Saturday, Sorrell was able to head on-stage in front of Packer Nation and be greeted by his new fan base.
Texas Longhorns edge Barryn Sorrell was regarded as a talented player despite his average production in college. Sorrell is a good athlete for his size but did not wow teams with his production or combine measurables. Despite this, Sorrell had a strong Senior Bowl that saw him voted as the best at his position by his teammates. He is viewed as a player who can grow into an average starter.
While Shedeur Sanders is the biggest name sliding down the draft, Sorrell was expected to be selected already as well. It has no doubt been a frustrating weekend for the talented defender.
Sorrell arrived in Green Bay for the draft despite projecting as a day-two selection. After Friday passed without his name being called, the young man was no doubt frustrated, but he turned up for day three and did not have to wait much longer.
Sorrell made a decision that few players do, which is to stick it out in the green room and return to the event on day three. Early into the 4th round, Sorrell finally got his moment.

Sorrell was noticeably relieved and excited, slapping the Packers logo on his walk out and trying on his hat with a tremendous sense of validation.
The NFL Draft delivers special moments like this every year, and for Sorrell to stick it out and get his moment on stage is truly heartwarming. Not to mention that he received a large reception from the crowd made up of mostly fans of his new team, the Green Bay Packers.
