The Chicago Sky made waves in the WNBA Draft for the second straight year, selecting guard Hailey Van Lith with the 11th overall pick. Van Lith will join a former college teammate in Angel Reese, and Reese was thrilled to reunite with her.

"yes yes yes," Reese said on social media after Van Lith was selected on Monday night.

"We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkkk," Reese said in another post. In their lone season as teammates at LSU, Reese and Van Lith lost to a Caitlin Clark-led Iowa team in the Elite Eight.

Van Lith transferred to TCU for her final college season, and helped lead the Horned Frogs to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history. TCU won the Big 12 in the regular season and conference tournament, and made their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2010.

After being drafted to the same team as Reese, Van Lith reacted to the chance to reunite with one of her best teammates at the college level.

"I mean, I love playing with size. It makes my job a lot easier," Van Lith said during her introductory press conference with the Sky.

"You know, it's a different environment than when I played with Angel the first time, but I think that's all good things. And we're both different players than we were when we played with each other, but again, probably good things."

Reese flourished in her first professional season last year, setting double-double and rebound records. She nearly led the Sky to the playoffs before suffering a wrist injury that ended her season.

Reese was also selected to the WNBA All-Star team in her first season, and earned starting honors against the United States Olympic team.

Van Lith will look to have a similar impact in her own rookie season, as the Sky attempt to accelerate the rebuild that began in 2024.

Van Lith, Reese and the Sky will open the WNBA season on the road next month against a familiar opponent in reigning Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever.
