Former Miami women’s basketball player Haley Cavinder and Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson are engaged. Cavinder announced the news in a video posted to TikTok on Thursday.

In addition to her success on the court, Cavinder has become a social media star alongside her twin sister, Hanna. The duo played together at Fresno State from 2020-22 before arriving at Miami in 2023. After a year away from the game, they returned to the court in 2024-25 with the Hurricanes after Haley Cavinder de-committed from TCU to head back to South Beach.

Cavinder started dating Ferguson in September 2023, meaning they’ve been together for a little over a year. He’s preparing for his fourth year with the Cowboys and made the Pro Bowl in his second season with the team in 2023.

After using her COVID year of eligibility this past season at Miami, Cavinder put up her strongest numbers as a Hurricane. She averaged 18.2 points to go with 6.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists across 29 games started. It was her first season of action after sitting out the 2023-24 season when she and Hanna opted to leave college basketball.

“I think after playing all four years together and deciding not to take our fifth year, we decided there’s more opportunities besides basketball,” Haley Cavinder said on the Today show explaining the decision to walk away. “Obviously it’s such a difficult position to be in, because we wanted to take our fifth year and continue to play, but I think it came down to just optimizing all the opportunities that we have ahead of us.”

Ultimately, the Cavinder Twins returned to the court for the 2024-25 season. As they did, they returned to their status as two of the biggest names in college athletics.

Haley Cavinder ends her college career with a $987,000 On3 NIL Valuation, which ranks No. 2 in the women’s basketball NIL rankings and No. 3 in the On3 Women’s NIL 100. Hanna sits right behind her with a $979,000 On3 NIL Valuation. They built quite the social media following, notably launching dual TikTok and Instagram accounts in addition to their own individual pages. They each have at least 5.5 million followers across X, TikTok and Instagram.
