The Ohio State Buckeyes already have a quarterback commit for the 2027 recruiting class. But they appear to still be competing with the Michigan Wolverines for another elite prospect behind center in 2027.

Five-star quarterback Elijah Haven provided an update this week to On3's Chad Simmons on how things are progressing with his recruitment process.

“This summer, I have visited Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama and Florida,” Elijah Haven told Simmons. “It was my first time at Alabama and Clemson.

“My visit to Florida went really well. I have been there a few times now and the staff is doing a great job recruiting me. I know I am a pririority for them. Michigan makes me feel the same way. I like those two schools for sure.”

On3's Mick Walker reported Haven visited Columbus, Ohio on June 12.

Interestingly, the Buckeyes already have a four-star signal-caller Brady Edmunds committed in the 2027 recruiting class. Ohio State also has four-star athlete Jamier Brown pledged for 2027.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine considers Michigan the early favorite for the quarterback. The On3 RPM gave the Wolverines a 45.8% chance of receiving a pledge from the five-star signal-caller.

The LSU Tigers, Auburn Tigers and Florida Gators are the other schools with above average 10% chance of getting Haven. The Buckeyes don't have a percentage.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Haven is the No. 1 quarterback and fourth-best Louisiana prospect for 2027. The composite rankings also have him at No. 22 overall.
