Some sad news has come out of Utah, as Utah Grizzlies Team President and CEO Kevin Bruder has tragically passed away, plunging the community into mourning.
With profound sorrow, we regret to announce the untimely passing of Kevin Bruder on Sunday, May 11th, at 56 years young. Kevin was the beloved Maverik Center General Manager, Utah Grizzlies President & CEO, and ECHL Board of Governors Chairman.

He fell victim to the beauty of Utah's outdoors, something that filled his life with boundless joy as well as his lovable family. Kevin leaves his wife, Susan, and all four children, Allison, Emily, Joel, and Christopher.
Kevin relocated to Utah in 1997 when the E-Center (presently known as the Maverik Center) opened and would also host ice hockey games for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Having been hired as the first General Manager for the arena by Elmore Sports Group, Kevin was the Maverik Center General Manager for nearly 30 years, taking the arena to the top as a focal point for the area.
He was elevated to President and CEO of the Utah Grizzlies in 2005 and voted Board of Governors Chairman of the ECHL Board of Governors in 2021, a testament to his leadership as well as league-wide respect.
Kevin was enthusiastic about community service, donating his time to organizations like Make-A-Wish Utah, Visit Salt Lake, TEAM Coalition, and IAVM.
A quiet but steady presence, Kevin was respected for his humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to others.
A mentor and advocate for his team, Kevin fostered a culture of loyalty, inclusion, and opportunity. His presence, always engaged and always dependable, had a lasting effect on all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Kevin's legacy is one of heart, leadership, and service. His community will always be changed because of his dedication, and he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
