Alabama football is preparing for what could be a wet game against Florida State on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide opens the season on the road against the Seminoles. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Saturday’s matchup, which could come with its fair share of challenges.

For Alabama football players, it is all about controlling what they can control at the moment, and that is preparing for wet conditions.

The Crimson Tide’s starting center Parker Brailsford will feel the impact of a wet game on every snap he plays. Reporters asked him what he was doing to prepare for those conditions on Tuesday.

“All the usual things, get the ball wet,” Brailsford said. “But we actually do a soapy ball, so we do that.”

Ty Simpson would also feel the impact of playing with wet football in his first start if the conditions are slippery. The former five-star knows it will be a challenge, but his focus remains on putting the Tide in the best position to win despite the forecast.

“You can’t really worry about that,” Simpson told reporters. “My job is to make sure that I get the ball to guys and whether it’s rain, snow, sleet or sunshine, that’s what I’m gonna plan on doing.”

Simpsons’ first taste of meaningful action was in the rain against USF in 2023. He helped the Tide seal the win against the Bulls.
