Former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been the talk of the sports world lately, receiving criticism in just about every way possible.
Recently, he spoke about his journey to Cleveland and his transition to the Browns, opening up about his appreciation for the moment.
“That’s why it worked out. That’s why I’m here and that’s why I’m Brown,” Sanders said on the city embracing him. “I feel like God won’t put me in a situation I’m not ready for, and that’s not ready for me. So that’s why I’m thankful for the city embracing me, and how I have been able to go and see the kids just working out. They ran with me, clapping for me when I got done working out. It’s really cool, and the city has really embraced me a lot. I’m just excited to be here.”
“I was ready to work in my new city,” Sanders continued. “I’ve been working out at home thanks to Pops. He built everything we needed to be successful. So I was ready to acclimate to my new city, so I came out here and met everybody. Had the resource I needed to be great.”
Sanders finished his thoughts by saying, “Going to the schools, I’ve been doing that during the season last year, since even before that. That was just something that I generally do, and what I find fun. There’s a lot of negativity and talk going on in the world. So that’s where I find my peace, my happiness, my joy, is being able to have a positive influence on the youth.”
While the city may have embraced him, it’s now Sanders’ turn to embrace his role in a unique situation. The former Buffalo looks to make his mark in a crowded quarterback room in Cleveland that includes Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
