The FIFA 2026 World Cup will kick off on June 11, featuring a total of 104 matches, with 48 national teams participating.
Earlier in December, the World Cup draw determined the matchups among the national teams, which are split into 12 different groups. However, one of the biggest remaining questions ahead of the World Cup is ticket prices. When do they go on sale? How much are they? Where can you purchase them?
FIFA previously announced the Random Selection Draw, which started on December 11, 2025, and will run until January 13, 2026. Fans will need to create a FIFA ID and/or sign in on the FIFA website to enter the draw.
Due to the length of the draw being available for fans, the timing of a fan's application will not impact their chances of success. FIFA provided the following instructions for the Random Selection Draw for a chance to get tickets:
The 2026 World Cup tickets vary for specific matchups in each group. Among the most expensive tickets are the Opening Match of the 2026 World Cup on June 11, 2026, between Mexico and South Africa, and the World Cup Final, which is on July 19, 2026.
The Random Selection Draw has shown some of the ticket prices for certain games. Each match has three categories for tickets: Category 1 (Section 100+), Category 2 (Section 200+), and Category 3 (Section 300+). The following ticket prices were seen from the Random Selection Draw.
For the opening match, Mexico vs South Africa in Mexico City, Category 1 tickets start roughly around $2,355. For Category 2 tickets for that match, the prices start at $1,705. Category 3 tickets for the opening match start at around $1,020.
For the World Cup Final in New York/New Jersey, Category 1 tickets currently start at $8,680. Category 2 tickets start at $5,575, and Category 3 tickets start at $4,185.
For those two matches specifically, the prices are incredibly high, but for regular group stage matches are cheaper than that, but fans are also shocked by the price ranges.
The reigning World Champions, Argentina, will play their first match of the 2026 World Cup against Algeria on June 16, 2026, at Kansas City Stadium. Category 1 tickets start at $700, Category 2 start at $500, and Category 3 start at $265.
Prices for all matches are currently listed on the Random Selection Draw when you click on the tab after signing in or signing up for your FIFA account.
Something else that fans should consider is parking prices for World Cup matches.
The Athletic reported in November that the price range for parking is between $75 and $175. The parking tickets highly depend on the location of the matches, especially in the United States.
On top of the highly expensive tickets for the matches, fans are concerned about what the exact prices will be when arriving at the stadiums in the U.S.
FIFA is affiliated with JustPark, which will determine the parking prices for each match in the United States, especially now that the World Cup draw has confirmed the matches and where they will be played.
