How Seahawks plan to play Jalen Milroe as rookie

The Seattle Seahawks’ offensive staff is already looking for ways to implement Jalen Milroe into their weekly gameplan as a rookie ahead of the 2025 NFL regular season.

Milroe flashed his elite athleticism and play-making abilities across three preseason games to Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, completing 22 of his 39 pass attempts for 255 total yards and a touchdown. He also showed the different dimension he provides as a runner, rushing for 56 yards on eight carries. This small sample size of production, along with the progress and potential he’s shown in practice is why Macdonald and company are comfortable with the idea of featuring the former Alabama quarterback on offense as a rookie in a multitude of different packages during the upcoming NFL season.

“We’re going to have plays in game plans for Jalen, and he’s going to rep those with the ones,” Macdonald said Monday as Seattle was in the process of constructing their regular season roster.

With Milroe expected to back up veteran quarterback Sam Darnold during his rookie season, it’ll be interesting to see what array of ways Macdonald and the Seahawks’ offensive brass can unleash Milroe on offense in year one.
