The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations features six groups of four teams and will run from January 13 to February 11. It is hosted by Ivory Coast, marking the second time they have hosted the tournament and the first since 1984.
Ghana embarks on its journey in the African Cup to win it for the fifth time in its history, a feat not achieved since 1982. The Black Stars secured victories in the editions of 1963, 1965, 1978, and 1982, and they also clinched five runner-up positions, the most recent one in 2010.
They are always considered favorites to contend for the title. Besides being the third national team with the most African Cups won, they are the second one that has reached the final the most times (9 in total). In their group is also Egypt, the team entering the competition in excellent form and boasting the most tournament victories.
The Blue Sharks will compete in their fourth Africa Cup of Nations without high expectations of going far. Despite Cape Verde having the local league with the most teams in the world, players from this national team come from 24 different leagues. The former Portuguese colony will be led by coach Pedro Brito ‘Bubista.
