Everyone has heard of the morality-filled epic where a shepherd boy fights a giant. But earlier this week, we got a modern version courtesy of YouTube’s DEATH BATTLE. The difference is that it replaced the shepherd and giant with Hulk and Godzilla.

That’s right, Marvel’s strongest Avenger and Toho’s King of the Monsters clashed! It truly was a battle of the ages that you must see to believe. But which of these mighty juggernauts claimed victory in the end?

Godzilla and Hulk Square Up

Following his exposure to gamma radiation, mild-mannered Bruce Banner became the Incredible Hulk. He transforms into the green-skinned bruiser whenever he’s mad or stressed. And he gains super strength, near-invulnerable skin, a healing factor, and immortality. However, while they share the same body, they exist as separate entities. Bruce is essentially the brains, while Jolly Green is the bulk and power.

Godzilla first rose from the depths and brought mass destruction to Tokyo in 1954. Since then, the undisputed Monster King has terrorized Japan or protected the planet. He does either deed with his powers of radiation, including his signature Atomic Breath. The kaiju also possesses immense strength, is amphibious, and has an immortality-granting healing factor. And there’s evidence he possesses the otherworldly support of an omnipotent eldritch entity.

The Strongest There Is

(Hulk vs Godzilla, Courtesy of DEATH BATTLE!)

The face-off began with Godzilla stomping around a city, likely Tokyo. Hulk soon comes stomping in, and the two combatants begin their showdown. The two exchange fierce blows, but their immortality makes landing finishing hits impossible. They’re pushed to their limits when Bruce analyzes their opponent’s power and builds a weapon. With it, the Avenger severs the kaiju’s connection to the entity, punching him from existence.

Afterward, the DEATH BATTLE hosts explained why exactly Jolly Green took the win. The combatants possessed equal power, but Hulk had the advantage of Bruce Banner. Bruce understood the Monster King’s power and otherworldly support on a metaphysical level. So he could easily construct a plan to end the kaiju once and for all. Technically, you argue that Bruce is the winner and not his green counterpart.

Final Thoughts

This episode featuring Hulk and Godzilla was beyond mind-blowing! The research and information provided by the hosts were, of course, intriguing. It was nice learning something new about characters I’ve been a fan of for years. Plus, the animation for the showdown was greatly mesmerizing to the eye.

I’m admittedly disappointed that the renowned king lost since I’m a huge fan. Yet, I cannot deny the reasons the experts gave for the outcome we got. There’s no way I’m going to argue with people who did such extensive research. Anyway, this DEATH BATTLE installment was definitely one of the best to grace YouTube players. But surely the upcoming 200th episode will offer us a more epic battle.
