'I do love Mahomes and Kelce…' Steph Curry gives win-win prediction for Superbowl as Chiefs take on 49ers
Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Stephen Curry finds himself in a difficult situation. The Warriors star’s loyalty has been put to test as Super Bowl LVIII fast approaches. Patrick Mahomes , his close friend and golf partner, is on one side. His home team, the San Francisco 49ers, is on the other. Curry is certain about who he wants to win Super Bowl LVIII. However, out of the 49ers or the Chiefs, picking one isn’t that simple.

The media questioned Curry about it after the Warriors defeated the 76ers 119-107 on Tuesday at Chase Center. Despite being straightforward. His reaction gave the Carolina Panthers fans some leeway.

Stephen Curry said via the postgame interview,

I mean obviously being here, you'd love to see Niners get it done. I do love Mahomes and Kelce. I got to play golf with them this summer. In my household, it's just a win-win kind of vibe, but obviously the hometown team.

Curry would be thrilled to see the Bay Area team win the Super Bowl . However, he wouldn’t be unhappy if Mahomes, Kelce, and company took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 11 as well.

The San Francisco 49ers’ NFC championship victory has made sports in the Bay Area extremely popular right now. Curry identified 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel in the stands as the Dubs wrapped up their victory over the 76ers.

Stephen Curry is excited for the All-Star 3-Point contest against Sabrina Ionescu

The star of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry, is just as thrilled as the rest of us with his 3-point shootout against Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty. The showdown is expected to happen on February 17, during the All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. Curry and Ionescu will square off in the first-ever NBA-WNBA competition—a 3-point challenge.

Following the Warriors’ Tuesday night 119–107 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, Curry was questioned about the upcoming 3-point shootout. He said:

It's the coolest thing ever. I know she kind of broke the airwaves when she only missed two or something like that.

Steph Curry will use NBA basketballs to compete in the shooting competition and will shoot from the NBA 3-point line by the rules established by the NBA. In a similar vein, Sabrina Ionescu will compete by shooting from the WNBA 3-point line and will use WNBA basketballs.

Ionescu won the 2023 WNBA All-Star 3-point challenge handily against Sami Whitcomb of the Seattle Storm and Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings last July. With her 37 points on 25 of 27 shots, the Liberty shooting specialist set a record for both WNBA and NBA scoring. Curry, who is regarded as the greatest 3-point shooter of all time, set the previous record in the NBA 3-point challenge with 31 points and won it twice, in 2015 and 2021.
