Indiana Hoosiers Fire Tom Allen After 7 Seasons
Robert Goddin-USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana Hoosiers are making a change at head coach. Tom Allen has been with the program for seven seasons and they have seen enough. Allen was dismissed from the program Sunday morning.

Indiana Hoosiers Fire Tom Allen

Allen never saw sustained success at Indiana. He went 33-49 overall but an abysmal 18-43 in Big Ten play. He looked to be turning the program around his final three seasons sealed his fate. He was 9-27 overall and 3-23 in Big Ten. This is not a way to keep a job. The decision was made to remove Allen despite the $20 million buyout. This will be Indiana’s third head coach search in the last 13 years.

A New Big Ten

One thing that could attract a good candidate is the changing of the Big Ten. USC and Washington are slated to come into the conference making more high-profile matchups possible. Indiana will get to play some of the top programs in the country. It also is a little bit of a clean slate. There isn’t much pressure to win championships but simply show progress in the Big Ten.

Allen showed promise for the Indiana Hoosiers but ultimately couldn’t keep up the success. It is on to the next coach for the program.
