Indiana Hoosiers Land 4-Star Quarterback From Class Of 2024
Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana Hoosiers are in a small state of transition. Head coach Tom Allen was let go after failing to improve the team. The program got up-and-coming head coach Curt Cignetti who led the James Madison Dukes to an impressive 11-1 record in 2023. Cignetti is already busy making sure the program has talent on the roster. Four-star quarterback Tyler Cherry announced he is committing to the Hoosiers.

Indiana Hoosiers Gets Commitment From QB Tyler Cherry

Cherry has a great quarterback build. At 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds, he has the ideal build for a pro-style passer. According to 247 Composite Rankings, he is the 20th-ranked quarterback in the 2024 class. This is a massive get for Cignetti, who is looking for early success in the new-look Big Ten. Cherry had this to say about his decision.

“The vision that Coach Cignetti has for the program is amazing. Getting to play for the new staff and the track record they have with QBs is an unbelievable opportunity. I’ve built great relationships with Coach Cignetti, Coach Tino, and Coach Shanahan. For me to stay home and be an instate recruit I set the tone for the rest of the instate recruits and show them I believe in the new vision of the staff and how no one should want to pass up Indiana.”

Cherry recognizes that he can be a part of the pitch for players to come to the program.

2024 Outlook

It is going to be a tough road in the new-look Big Ten for the Hoosiers. They have to play newcomers UCLA and Washington on top of Michigan and Ohio State. This is likely a move that will help Indiana down the road. Rare is it that a freshman quarterback comes in and begins to dominate immediately. However, if Cignetti can build a foundation this year, Indiana might be able to make some noise in the Big Ten down the road.

Getting Tyler Cherry is great news for new head coach Curt Cignetti. Can Indiana play a spoiler in 2024?
