Caitlin Clark unfortunately didn’t play at Saturday’s All-Star Games due to her groin injury, but it didn’t stop her from being one of its highlights. Other than being her team’s coach and supporter, Clark also dapped up with former teammate Kate Martin and the rest of her friends at Iowa.
After the game, Caitlin Clark reunited with her friends Martin, Jada Gyamfi, and Gabbie Marshall, all part of the Hawkeyes squad. On her Instagram, Marshall posted a wholesome, friendly photo of the group together, writing, “Indy, you did not disappoint,” in the captions.
The friendly banter between the team continued in Marshall’s post, with Clark commenting “Was so up,” and “Love you !!!!” Meanwhile, Martin wrote “I wuvvvvvv youuuuu,” while Gyamfi added, “My boooooo.”
While her friends got their fun in, Caitlin Clark still had work to do. She stuck close to Lexie Hull during the Three-Point Contest and later linked up with coach Sandy Brondello, helping guide Team WNBA from the bench, where her Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell were suiting up.
Clark, of course, didn’t suit up herself. The groin injury that knocked her out of Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun flared up again, forcing her to sit out. Her absence has been a big concern throughout the season, with her getting injuries three times, again in the groin last June and in the left quad in May.
After being sidelined due to her re-aggravated injury, Caitlin Clark is up again for additional testing. Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, Fever head coach Stephanie White stressed that the team is trying to be cautious, making sure everything’s okay before Clark returns to the court.
“I think she’s progressing,” White said. “I think that we’re continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed … I don’t expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we’re just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluations early this week.”
“For us, it’s probably something we’re going to continue to deal with. These soft tissue injuries sometimes nag until you can actually have time to really allow them to heal in the offseason,” White said. “So, we’ll just take it one day at a time and as they come, and this group will continue to progress together.”
Without Caitlin Clark, White and the Fever remained locked in to make sure the victories keep coming. They’ll face the Liberty again on Tuesday.
