Initial takeaways from Tennessee beating Alabama

The Tennessee Vols defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday in Knoxville.

Here are some initial takeaways from the game:

Alabama Football’s Playoff Hopes Are In Serious Jeopardy

Alabama football’s playoff hopes are officially in serious jeopardy. A two-loss team can make the playoff. The Crimson Tide did so last year, but that would mean going undefeated the rest of the way. The bright side is their two losses are giants teams who are going to be fighting to be in the playoff.

Alabama’s Defense Just Wasn’t Enough

The Tennessee offense eventually wore down the Alabama defense. The Crimson Tide’s defense had to deal with not getting much help from its offense and was on the field a very long time late in the game. They got bludgeon as a result late in the run game.

Alabama’s Offense Lack Intensity To Execute

The Alabama offense was simply not executing with intensity in key moments. Moments where Alabama needed first downs badly they came up short, when they tried to go for it in fourth down, they got overpowered. This was evident in the first half and it got worse from that point on.
