Iowa State Basketball Lands First Transfer Portal Commitment for 2025

Iowa State basketball picked up its first transfer portal commitment of the 2025 class on Thursday with a pledge from Purdue Fort Wayne’s Eric Mulder.

Listed at 6-foot-8, 225-pounds, Mulder is a native of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and will be “going home” as he becomes a part of the Cyclones’ 2025 roster.

Mulder was one of the most efficient shooters in the country this past season, shooting 76.3% (87-114) and averaging 8.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 2024-25.

The year before, Mulder ranked 13th nationally in FG% (69.7%) and started all 35 games for the Mastadons.

Iowa Stat fell short of its lofty expectations for 2024-25. An injury-laden squad, short its second-best scorer and assist leader, was outdueled by Ole Miss in the Round of 32 last weekend, sending the Cyclones home much earlier than anyone had expected.

After climbing as high as No. 2 in the AP poll with a 15-1 start, the Cyclones went 11-9 the rest of the way to finish with a 25-10 record and not much else to show for it.

The good news, however, is that as long as T.J. Otzelberger is in Ames, Iowa State is going to be a force to be reckoned with, and a place that players want to come and play.
