USMNT attacking midfielder Giovanni "Gio" Reyna, 22, officially moved from Borussia Dortmund to Borussia Mönchengladbach on a three-year deal until 2028.
The transfer fee was about €7m plus add-ons and was made official on August 23, 2025. He made a total of 147 appearances for Dortmund and scored 19 goals and contributed 18 assists.
Last season, he dealt with some muscle injuries and had limited playing time. As the start of the 2025-26 season begins, fans want to see how he fits into the team.

He’s officially in Gladbach’s squad for this season but there’s no confirmation if he’s in the squad for tonight’s game against Hamburger SV. With the transfer only being completed a day before the game, it’s unlikely he’ll play as the coaches will give him time to train and get fully fit.
During the 2024/25 Bundesliga season with Dortmund, he had a total of 16 appearances and only started in 3 games, and finished the season with just 2 goals in total.
His playing time was limited because he had to deal with persistent fitness issues throughout the season. So at Gladbach, he should be integrated slowly, allowing him to adjust to the new teammates and system.
He is expected to debut when he is fully match fit and in the squad comfortably. For the fans, patience will be key. He’s now officially part of Gladbach but tonight’s game against Hamburger SV is too soon for him.
Midfielder Gio Reyna has completed a move to league rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach with immediate effect.

Once fit and fully integrated Reyna could be a creative force in midfield, scoring and assisting as he settles into the Bundesliga with his new club. The season ahead will be exciting and Reyna’s adaptation will be one of the storylines to follow for Gladbach fans.
