Nicolo Barella is set to start in holding midfield for Inter Milan in today’s Serie A match against Torino.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan kick off their Serie A season with a match against Torino this evening.

And Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu will have to do without midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Turkish international is serving a one-match suspension due to accumulation of yellow cards carrying over from last season.

Therefore, Chivu will have to find an alternate solution at the base of midfield.

Nicolo Barella To Start In Holding Midfield For Inter Vs Torino

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Chivu has decided that Nicolo Barella will start at the base of Inter’s midfield.

That will mean that summer signing Petar Sucic will play as a box-to-box midfielder rather than a holding role in his first ever Serie A start for the Nerazzurri.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal and Roma midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also start in Inter’s midfield trio.

The Corriere dello Sport predict the following starting eleven for Inter against Torino:

Inter Milan (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Sucic, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro.
