It's 2025 section championship week in MN boys high school hockey

As always, one of the most exciting weeks of high school sports in Minnesota has made its annual return as the boys hockey section championships will be played. By the time Saturday comes around, 16 teams will have secured a berth in the prestigious 2025 Minnesota Boys Hockey State Tournament. 

Class 1A section playoffs

All sections but 4A have advanced to the championship round. Here are the matchups. 

1A: #1 Northfield vs. #3 Rochester Lourdes — Wed. 7 p.m.

2A: #1 Minneapolis vs. #3 Orono — Wed, 7 p.m.

3A: #1 Luverne vs. #2 Mankato West — Wed. 7:30 p.m.

4A: Semifinals Tuesday, championship Thursday at 7 p.m. 

• #1 Chisago Lakes vs. #5 Simley
• #2 Mahtomedi vs. #6 St. Paul Highland-Central

5A: #1 Monticello vs. #2 St. Cloud Cathedral — Wed. 7 p.m.

6A: #1 Northern Lakes vs. #2 Alexandria — Thur. 7 p.m.

7A: #1 Cloquet-Esko-Carlton vs. #3 Hibbing/Chisholm/VCA — Wed. 7 p.m. 

8A: #1 Warroad vs. #2 East Grand Forks — Thur. 7 p.m. 

Class 2A section playoffs

3AA: Semifinals Tuesday, championship Friday at 7 p.m.

• #2 Cretin-Derham Hall vs. #3 Rosemount

4AA: Semifinals Tuesday, championship Friday at 7 p.m.

• #1 Hill-Murray vs. #5 Roseville
• #2 Stillwater vs. #3 White Bear Lake

5AA: #1 Rogers vs. #3 Champlin Park — Thur. 7 p.m.

6AA: #1 Edina vs. #2 Wayzata — Wed. 6 p.m.

8AA: #1 Moorhead vs. #2 Bemidji — Wed. 7 p.m.

The 2025 state tournament will be held next Wednesday-Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
