One of the more comical twists in the intersection of sports and politics is complete. Ivanka Trump delivered a hilarious message to one of her outspoken admirers on Friday.
Following the Philadelphia Eagles’ visit to the White House as part of their recognition for a recent Super Bowl victory, cornerback Eli Ricks made his thoughts known. He tweeted a message that would have the sports world howling.
“Donald trump daughter is beautiful damn,” Ricks wrote. The story did not end there.
Social media, of course, blew up in real time after the tweet. And Ricks would later add more, noting: “After seeing her in person, Ivanka is exactly my type.”
Here’s where the story gets deeper, though. Ivanka Trump visited the Eagles’ facilities with some of her family in tow on Friday afternoon.
And she made sure to leave a personal message for Ricks. You have to see it below to believe it.
Missed you today @eliasricks !

“Missed you today [Eli Ricks]!” Ivanka Trump posted on Twitter. Included was a winking emoji and a laughing emoji, as the president’s daughter was clearly having a good time with the whole thing.
The note she left read: “Stopped by to say hi! Sorry to miss you! Go Birds! – Ivanka”
Eli Ricks was dismayed at missing Ivanka Trump, but he quickly regathered himself and got back after it on social media. He quote-tweeted her post with a new note.
“My apologies,” Ricks wrote. “I owe you a glass of wine now xx!”
In any case, the entire ordeal added a good deal of levity on social media, where things can often get a bit tense, especially when sports and politics mix. Good on both for providing that with a great sense of humor.
As for the football field, Eli Ricks will be looking to impress Ivanka Trump with an even better 2025 season. He played sparingly in 2024, appearing in just seven games and tallying two tackles on the year.
Ricks was an undrafted player out of Alabama in 2023, but he quickly latched onto a roster spot in Philadelphia. In his first season he logged 19 tackles and three passes defended, appearing in 16 games.
